That sums up my life for the past month. It all started with the SEMA show in Las Vegas at the end of October. SEMA was an absolute blast. Although it is closed to the public, there are ways to get in the door if you have connections within the automotive industry and for anyone who is an automotive enthusiast such as I, I highly recommend making the trip. The new products are just amazing. Some highlights I saw were that muscle cars are making a comeback and I welcome this trend with open arms. Being born in the late 70's, I missed the whole muscle car era. I wish I could have been around when Chevelles, GTOs, Cudas and Boss Mustangs ruled the streets. As usual, wheels were in the spotlight as well. It seems like only yesterday that everyone was bragging about having 20" wheels. I actually saw a ride with 30" wheels at the show!! They also have a new wheel out that looks clear, like the tire is just floating in thin air. Really wild stuff. This industry never ceases to amaze me. Just when you think you've seen it all, something else comes up. SEMA has it's fair share of celebrity appearances as well. I had the pleasure of meeting Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington, Randy Couture from the UFC, the host of the TV show Pinks and Criss Angel to name a few. As far as sightings go, I saw Ice T, John Force and Ryan Dunn from Jackass. All was topped off by the SEMA banquet in which many awards were handed out for the top achievers of the year in the industry. The entertainment for the night was Dana Carvey. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. Of course he did all his impressions from George Bush Sr. to the Church Lady. To sweeten the deal, it gives me an excuse to spend an entire week in Las Vegas. I don't gamble much but I do play a little. I tend to have pretty good luck in Vegas. Being that I do have mild ADD, I love the whole sensory overload feel of Vegas. There is ALWAYS something going on no matter what time of day. Needless to say, I needed the holiday weekend to recover from all the travel and excitement. Maybe it's a sign I'm getting old. I sure hope not.

Slip slidin' away!!

If you are like me, winter driving is the last thing you want to be discussing in mid-October. Fact of the matter is that if you wait until the snow actually hits to winterize your vehicle, it may be too late. Typical winterizing tasks are flushing your anti-freeze, changing your oil, changing your wiper blades, etc. In addition, those who live in heavy snowfall areas often run to the nearest hardware store or WalMart and buy sandbags for the bed of their truck or trunk of their car to add much needed weight for traction. Some people are even more elaborate in their traction solutions and go so far as to bolt steel plates to their truck bed. While these are definitley "solutions" to the traction weight issue, they certainly are not safe and in many cases logical. ShurTrax is a product that has been on the market for roughly 3 years now. It consists of a dual ply, heavy duty vinly bladder that is filled with water and anchored with ratcheting tie-downs, to safely, securely add up to 400 lbs. of traction weight to your vehicle. It is available in three sizes to fit full size trucks, midsize or compact trucks and autos and SUVs. The simple design allows users to fill the bladder in less than 10 minutes, and simply drain, hang flat or roll up and store when not in use. No more messy clean up. No more heavy lifting. ShurTrax also allows for the utilization of the truck bed when in use. It can hold up to 500 lbs. of weight. Before you make the same mistake that others have for so many years past and load up sand bags or cinder blocks in your vehicle, look into ShurTrax. You are sure to not be disappointed. Visit our website at www.shurtrax.com for product info and locations to purchase. Happy driving. Be safe.

Love your truck but hate the bouncy ride?

Anyone who has, or has had a pickup truck knows that they ride much more rough than a car. SUVs tend to be the same way which is why there has been a recent increase in the popularity of CUVs or Crossover Utility Vehicles such as the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda CRV. Whereas typical SUVs are built on the same chassis as a pickup truck, CUVs are built on a chassis more simillar to that of a car. The reasoning is primarily for a smoother, more comfortable ride. Roughly 3 years ago, ShurTrax hit the consumer market as a safe remedy to the treacherous driving conditions caused by winter weather. ShurTrax users are able to add up to 400 lbs. of weight right over the rear axle to provide much needed traction. Almost by accident, users discovered that even in dry warm weather, ShurTrax helped reduce the rough, bumpy ride of the truck. Now there is no need to sacrifice the ruggedness of the truck that you love for the comfortable ride you so much desire. Help is on the way and it goes by the name ShurTrax. Check out our website www.shurtrax.com for more info on the product and how to purchase one.
